ICEfaces Related Session:
Title: Ajax in Portals
Speaker: Deryk Sinotte, Senior ICEfaces Developer
Date: Saturday - September 8th
Time: 10:30 - 12:00 PM

Abstact: While Ajax development can be challenging in its own right, incorporating Ajax techniques in a portal environment poses a host of additional challenges to the developer.  This session begins with an overview of the fundamental challenges related to Ajax in the portal environment including markup namespacing, JavaScript library collision, Ajax server request handling, coexistence of Ajax and non-Ajax portlets, and multiple Ajax Push connections. Then, attendees will see how these challenges have been addressed with JSF and the open source ICEfaces technology. Finally, the session concludes with a walk-through of an actual Ajax Portlet, showing the major development and deployment steps required.

Keynote Speakers at this event include:

  • WSI: Crimes Against Web Standards by Molly Holzschlag
  • The State of Ajax by Douglas Crockford
  • Beyond Ajax by Jesse James Garrett
  • The One Web by Eric Miller

About ICEfaces

ICEfaces is professional open source software specifically engineered to meet the unique challenges of enterprise application development and deployment. The solution extends JavaServer Faces, enabling Java software developers to more easily create and deploy thin-client rich Web applications in Java Technology. It leverages the entire standards-based Java EE ecosystem of tools and execution environments and resolves mission critical deployment issues such as scalability, accessibilty and security, delivering the most secured Ajax application model in the industry. Its applications are Java technology based applications, not JavaScript applications.
