Overview

The ICEfaces JDeveloper Integration provides ICEfaces support for developers using the Oracle JDeveloper 10g IDE tool for web application development. This JDeveloper extension provides the following capabilities:

The ICEfaces JDeveloper Integration v1.5 is built on Oracle JDeveloper 10g (Studio 10.1.3).

After installing the extension, the ICEfaces Component Suite is registered in the JSP Library Tag (associated with the TLD file) and the ICEfaces options on the JDeveloper context menus are available, facilitating conversion of JSF projects to ICEfaces-enabled projects.

 


Requirements

Oracle JDeveloper 10g (Studio 10.1.3) requires Java Developer Kit (JDK) 1.5 or later.

Note: We recommend that you use the JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3 Base Install (without JDK 1.5).

 


Installing the ICEfaces Extension for JDeveloper

  1. Launch Oracle JDeveloper 10g (Studio 10.1.3).
  2. From the application menu bar, select Help > Check for Updates.
  3. In the Check for Updates Welcome wizard page, click Next.
  4. Check the Install From Local File radio button.
  5. Browse to the location of the saved ZIP file icefaces-jdeveloper-v1.5.zip, select it and then click Open.
  6. Follow the wizard instructions to complete the installation and restart JDeveloper.
  7. From the application menu bar, select Tools > Preferences and then select Extensions to verify the extension ICEfaces JDeveloper Integration 1.5 was installed.
  8. From the application menu bar, select Tools > Manage Libraries to verify the ICEfaces Runtime 1.5 and ICEfaces Runtime Support libraries are installed as shown in the following screen image.

  1. Click the JSP Tag Libraries tab to verify the ICEfaces Component Suite 1.5 is installed as displayed in the following screen image.

The ICEfaces JDeveloper Extension installation is complete.

 


Converting an Existing JSF Project into an ICEfaces Project

  1. Right-click the project node in the Applications Navigator tab and select ICEfaces Intergration from the context menu.

  2. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog to add the ICEfaces entries to the web deployment file (web.xml).

 


Importing a WAR File into an ICEfaces Project

The following instructions describe how to import a WAR file into an ICEfaces project.

  1. From the JDeveloper menu bar, select File > New.
  2. In the New Gallery dialog, select Projects > Projects from WAR File. Click OK.
  3. Follow the wizard instructions to create an ICEfaces project from your WAR file.

 


Uninstalling the ICEfaces Extension from JDeveloper

  1. From the JDeveloper menu bar, select Tools > Preferences and then select Extensions in the Preferences dialog.
  2. Uncheck the ICEfaces JDeveloper Integration 1.5 selection.
  3. Click OK and restart JDeveloper.
  4. From the JDeveloper installation folder, delete the icefaces folder.
  5. From the jdev/extensions folder in JDeveloper installation folder, delete com.icesoft.ide.oracle.project.ICEfacesLibraryPlugin.1.5.jar.
  6. Delete the ICEfaces Component Suite 1.5 from the list of JSP Tag Libraries by selecting Tools > Manage Libraries and then select JSP Tag Libraries tab.
  7. From the jdev/system folder in JDeveloper installation folder, delete com.icesoft.ide.oracle.project.ICEfacesLibraryPlugin.1.5 folder.

The ICEfaces Extension is no longer available in the JDeveloper application.

NOTE: If you re-install ICEfaces JDeveloper Integration after having removed it, you will need to re-activate the extension in the Preferences dialog to enable the ICEfaces extension. In the Preferences dialog, check the ICEfaces JDeveloper Integration 1.5 option and restart JDeveloper.

 


Known Issues

  1. JSP design editor is not supported.
  2. Some of JSP pages are not run with JSP page Compiler Errors. You ould modify Run Configuration --> Tool Settings --> select the following options (Run Project Despite Compiler Errors).
  3. AdF Faces is not supported
